So the Lisa Eldridge foundation was benched until I returned home, and like magic, the foundation worked as it did pre-vacation. This began my testing phase of mixing and matching the products I had with me, and then going shopping to pick up some new skincare and primers in hopes I could make foundation look better sadly, I had no such luck and decided to give up on wearing liquid foundation for the remainder of my trip. Once my family and I were at the restaurant, I sneakily chose the seat with the dimmest lighting in hopes my less-than-ideal makeup would be softened… not even five minutes after being seated, my little brother leaned over and said, “Um, why does your face look cakey?” Now that I was feeling mortified (yes, internally, I am that overly dramatic), I was beyond ready to go home and cleanse my skin. I reached for my Lisa Eldridge foundation, and I was stunned at how awful my beloved foundation looked, but I didn’t have time to redo my makeup, so I grabbed my face mask and was thankful my lower face would be covered. I didn’t wear makeup until the beginning of December when I was going out for dinner. Mid-November, I left for my first vacation in almost two years, and I packed the Lisa Eldridge Foundation and my beloved Laura Geller Baked Balance-n-Brighten, as this made me feel like I would be covered for any occasion that I might want to wear makeup. Since I had Lisa’s foundation in the best shade for me, I began testing out applications and product combinations, which led me to start seeing the selective nature of this foundation. When I purchased the foundation, I also purchased the Luxuriously Lucent Lip Colour in Painterly, Rose Official, and Spirited Away, and to this day, I am still very much smitten. Much to my surprise, Shade 5 (light with neutral undertone) was an excellent shade for unifying my slightly deeper and ruddy face with my more fair neutral-cool undertoned body skin. The lip products were nice, but I wasn’t enchanted however, I LOVED how the foundation wore – but I wanted a better colour match, so I ordered the sample cards in Light 1, Light 2, and Light Medium 1, which allowed me to test out shades 1-12. After I filmed that first impression video, I attended a friend's birthday party, so I had my chance to road test the lip colour, lip pencil, and the foundation in Shade 4 (light with peach undertone). The shipment also included a foundation sample card in Light 1 which included shades 1-4. Upon initial try, I was beyond smitten, but I found myself reaching for them less and less as time progressed.įast forward to Lisa’s True Velvet collection for fall/winter 2021, where I finally tried out the True Velvet Lip Colour with Velvet Muse and Velvet Blush Lightly along with the Enhance and Define Lip Pencil in Muse and Blush Lightly. I waited until her spring/summer launch, when I purchased the Elevated Glow in Crystal Nebula, Enlivening Blush in Pink Soap, Luxuriously Lucent Lip Colour in Kitten Mischief, and the Gloss Embrace in Go Lightly. I was late to purchasing Lisa’s makeup products, as I knew I wouldn’t use the specific products in the first wave. She was a huge inspiration when I worked as a freelance makeup artist and changed the way I approach my makeup. If you have seen my other reviews of Lisa Eldridge products, you probably already know that I have looked up to Lisa for years.
